QVC Customer Choice Beauty Award Winners Collection

This is a box of samples I received today from QVC, item A240007. This one costs $39.00 plus shipping.  The retail value of all eleven products comes out to $215.73! Bargain!  After tax and shipping that means I only paid $4.38 per item! Each product received a QVC Customer Choice Beauty Award in 2012.  QVC customers vote on which products they like the most each year and voting for this year just ended.  Included in this box were the following products:
  1. WEN - Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner, 6 fl oz, $10.90 retail value
  2. Perricone MD - Neuropeptide Facial Cream, .5 fl oz, $48.00 value
  3. Dr. Denese - Triple Strength Wrinkle Smoother Advanced Treatment, .5 fl oz, $13.23 value
  4. Peter Thomas Roth- Laser-Free Resurfacing Eye Serum, .25 fl oz, $29.00 value
  5. IT Cosmetics - Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer, .11 fl oz, $9.60 value
  6. Philosophy - Purity Made Simple 3 in 1 Cleanser for Face, 1 fl oz, $2.75 value
  7. Josie Maran - 100% Pure Argan Oil, .5 fl oz, full size, $14.00 value
  8. Kate Somerville - ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment, .5 fl oz, $21.25 value
  9. Laura Geller - Spackle Under Make-Up Primer, 2 oz, full size, $27.00 value
  10. Mally - High Shine Liquid Lipstick in Starburst (shimmering pink), .12 oz, full size, $20.00 value
  11. Mally - Volumizing Mascara, .39 oz, full size, $20.00 value
This box of samples is very similar to the one they sell from New Beauty called Test Tube.  I have tried most of these products before in that box.  I have been using WEN for years now.  After you get use to the different way of shampooing, it's fabulous.  I love all three brands of the moisturizer that were included.  I will be selling or gifting the concealer since the medium shade is too dark for me.  The little bottle of Philosophy face cleanser is perfect for the shower.  I have several bottles of the Josie Maran Argan Oil, so that will be going on my Blog Sale along with the other two.  Kate's scrub is very good and I use it with my Clarisonic.  I would never buy it in full size since it's so expensive.  Laura's make-up primer is my favorite.  I will be selling the Mally lipstick on my Blog Sale also.  I have an extensive collection of lip gloss from Bare Escentuals and I'm trying not to add anymore lip glosses to my stash!  Mally's mascara is pretty good, just not my favorite.  Chanel is my favorite!

M·A·C Cosmetics Endless Night Nail Lacquer with Owl Nail Art

Endless Night by M·A·C,  A Little Fishy Told Me by Enchanted Polish & Sephora by OPI's Dating the Drummer

Endless Night by M·A·C

I recently received the above nail polish called Endless Night by M·A·C Cosmetics as gift from my friend, Marcela. As soon as it arrived I couldn't wait to wear it and it arrived just when it was time to change my nail polish.  My last manicure, Say Hello to My Kitty lasted for fifteen days thanks to Perfect Formula's Manicure Keeper base coat and Seche Vite top coat.  Endless Night looks best with three coats.  The first coat goes on really thin, so I recommend two more coats after that.  In the sun, the ultra fine pink glitter makes an appearance. The next day I spent the afternoon trying out several nail art designs including Burberry Nails, Eiffel Tower, Panda, Leopard Nails & Owls.  I liked the owls the most, so I decided to go with that design.  Here's where I got my inspiration:

If you haven't tried nail art before, I highly recommend trying a tutorial that uses a dotting tool.  It's the easiest type of nail art or you could try stamping.  Line art is more difficult.  Find some tutorials on blogs or YouTube and spend your afternoon practicing. See what you come up with and what you are best at!  As I recommend on my graphic tutorials, try different colors than shown in the tutorials, so it's more of your own creation, not just an exact duplicate of the tutorial.

So there you have it, my latest manicure.  What do you think, do you like it?  I have featured over fifty manicures on this blog.  Take a quick glance at them all on my Pinterest Manicure Board.  Simply click on the ones you want to read about on my blog, since they are linked to the matching blog post.  Before you go, check out Marcela's YouTube channel.  She features several cosmetic subscription boxes.  Also, don't forget to enter my Summer Giveaway which is ending soon!  Lastly, check out my Blog Sale which has cosmetics and nail polish at bargain prices!

Sephora Haul - August 2013

This is a haul from Sephora.com.  When I saw they had my favorite line of nail polish on sale, I just had to buy some.  Bargain Alert - they were on sale three for only $10!  How incredible is that!  Normally they cost $9.50 each.  Unfortunately, I found out they lost their contract with OPI, so they wont be making the Sephora by OPI line of nail polishes anymore.  How sad is that!  Be sure and check out their sale before they are all gone forever. Included in my haul were the following products:
  1. Sephora by OPI - White Hot
  2. Sephora by OPI - Bright as a Feather
  3. Sephora by OPI - How Cute is That?
  4. Deborah Lippmann - Happy Birthday Nail Laquer mini (100 point reward)
  5. Clinique - Uneven Skin Tone Solutions Kit
This shipment also included three free samples and the Deborah Lippmann mini was free since I had 100 points to use.  Check out the nail polish swatches here:

White Hot, Bright as a Feather, How Cute is That?, Happy Birthday

The white polish is nice and opaque and I plan to use it for nail art.  Bright as a Feather has a bit of extra fine glitter in it and How Cute is That? is a lovely coral shade.  All three took two coats.  I plan to use Happy Birthday on top of a polish that matches one of the glitter colors.  I applied one coat and then dabbed on some more where there were some bare spots.

I may return the Uneven Skin Tone Solutions set since I read it may take a full month and use of the entire bottle before it removes sun spots on my face.  It would be cheaper to just use foundation to cover them.  I like how the Dark Spot Corrector feels on the skin, but I do not like how the Tone Correcting Solution feels on the skin.  I think it has too much SPF in it for my skin.  I'm tired of cosmetic lines putting SPF in everything.  Having SPF in my foundation is enough!  I don't need it also in my moisturizers and primers, etc.  I haven't tried the scrub yet. Have you tried any skin correcting lotions?  If so, what did you think of them?

So there you have it my latest Sephora haul. I've been good this year and limited my Sephora spending, so I'm no longer a VIB.  Don't forget to use Mr. Rebates for cash back when shopping online!

Little Black Bag - July 2013

BCBGeneration Mini Square Crossbody and Hello Kitty Big Bow Polka Dots Coin Bag

Hello Kitty Quilted Face Bag

This is an extremely addictive and fun shopping experience brought to you by a company called Little Black Bag. You chose one item from their website and for $10 or more (depending on the item you start your bag with) two additional items are added to your bag.  Then you trade with other ladies on their website.  What you end up with at the end of the seven days of trading is up to your trading skills and how much time you want to spend doing it.

Starting Bag ($155 retail value):

  1. Hello Kitty Quilted Face Bag, $65.00 retail value
  2. Robert Rose Alligator Earrings, $15 value
  3. Nakamol Multi Beaded Ring, $20 value
  4. Jessica McClintock Sequin Kiss Lock Bag, $55 value (referral item)
I chose the Hello Kitty Face Bag to open my bag with at a cost of $35.90 including shipping.  I had a $10 coupon and a referral credit for one $50 item.  So I started with four items in my bag instead of three.  I had no intention of trading the Hello Kitty bag that I opened my bag with, but I received lots of generous trade offers.  So I started trading the $15 Robert Rose Alligator Earrings for the $16 Robert Rose Embellished Earrings, which gave me an increase of $1 in value.  Later I traded those earrings for the $18 Carol Dauplaise Double Link Stone Drop Earrings for an increase of $2 in value.  While that was going on I also traded my $55 Jessica McClintock bag for the $68 BCBGeneration Foldover Sequin Clutch for an increase of $13 in value.  A few days before trading was over I decided to no longer trade up, but to trade for what I wanted.  So I traded two items for one.  I traded my $18 Carol Daupaise Double Link Stone Drop Earrings and my $68 BCBGeneration Foldover Sequin Clutch for the $78 BCBGeneration Mini Square Crossbody.  For that transaction it was a decrease of $8 in value, but it's still an $8 increase in value since I first started trading.  While that was going on, the trading offers were not good on the ring. I decided on a lateral trade, trading my $20 Nakamol Multi Beaded Ring for a more popular item which was the $20 Carol Dauplaise Pull Through Circle Earrings.  I later traded those earrings for the $20 Hello Kitty Big Bow Polka Dots Coin Bag.  Here's what I ended up with:

Finished Bag ($163.00 retail value):
  1. Hello Kitty Quilted Face Bag, $65 retail value
  2. BCBGeneration Mini Square Crossbody, $78 value
  3. Hello Kitty Big Bow Polka Dots Coin Bag, $20 value
The value of my bag went up from $155 to $171 (+16) at it's peak and then down to $163.00 (+$8).  Mind you, I'm not the best at trading and others have much more success.  All of this for $35.90!  That makes each item only cost $11.96 each including shipping!  What a bargain and so the addiction continues.  Stay tuned for my next Little Black Bag.  Have you tried out Little Black Bag?  If not, what are you waiting for!  Click here for 25% off your first bag!  If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I'll answer any questions you have about your 1st bag.  Don't forget to enter my Summer Giveaway before you leave!

Birchbox - August 2013

This is a monthly cosmetic sample box from a company called Birchbox for $10 a month including shipping.  The retail value of this box is $20.97.  If you review the products that you receive in your box, they will give you points which you can use to purchase cosmetics in their store.  Included in the August box were the following products:
  1. It's a 10 - Miracle Leave-in Product, 2 oz, $9.99 retail value
  2. Whish - Exfoliating Body Wash, .75 fl oz, $2.75 value
  3. Stila - Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick, .03 fl oz, $6.60 value
  4. Whish - Hair Inhibiting Deodorant Swipe,  $0.73 value
  5. Malin+Goetz - Vitamin E Face Moisturizer, .08 fl oz, $0.90 value
I don't have brittle, frizzy or damaged hair, so I will be selling the It's a 10 on my Blog Sale.  I look forward to trying the body wash, but I won't be purchasing a full size version since it's so expensive.  I can wear just about any lip color except red, so that one will also be on my Blog Sale.  The idea of touching deodorant to apply it and then having to wash my hands just seems so yucky and such a waste of time.  I'll be sticking to my stick deodorant!  I look forward to trying the face moisturizer.

Check out what I received in  previous Birchboxes:

Ipsy - August 2013

August Glam Bag

This is a monthly cosmetic subscription service called Ipsy for only $10 per month including shipping.   The retail value of this bag is $34.79 not including the cosmetic bag or the bonus Lime Crime Nail Polish!  Included in the August shipment are the following products:
  1. Tini Beauty - Nailtini Nail Lacquer in Mai Tai, full size, $13 retail value
  2. Michael Todd - Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub, 1 oz, $5.22 value
  3. Pacifica - Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream, .34 fl oz, $5.44 value
  4. Pixi - Lash Booster Mascara in Blackest Black, 3 g, $7.14 value
  5. Noya - Lip Balm in Vanilla, full size, $3.99 value
  6. Cosmetic Bag
  7. Lime Crime - Nail Polish in Crema De Limon, full size, $8 value
I always love receiving nail polish and receiving two full sized bottles is awesome.  I've been searching for a good BB or CC cream, so I love to get samples of those.  I find it's best to sample those before buying the full sizes. I've never tried anything from Pixi and look forward to seeing if I like their mascara.  I will be selling the lip balm on my Blog Sale since I have enough lip balm right now.  I look forward to trying the charcoal scrub since I haven't tried that type of scrub before.  The cosmetic bag is really pretty.  This may be my favorite bag from Ipsy so far!  Don't forget to enter my Summer Giveaway before you leave!

QVC's New Beauty Test Tube - August 2013

This is a quarterly cosmetic subscription service from QVC and New Beauty called Test Tube for $29.96 plus $6.72 shipping.  Included in the August shipment are the following products:
  1. Philosophy - Hope in a Jar for Body, 4 fl oz., $8.75 retail value
  2. Algenist - Gentle Rejuvenating Cleanser, 1.5 fl oz, $9.39 value
  3. Bliss - Soapy Suds Body Wash & Bubble Bath, 2 fl oz, $2.25 value
  4. Ojon - Rare Blend Protecting Treatment, .85 fl oz, $3.45 value
  5. Alterna Bamboo - 48 Hour Sustainable Volume Spray, .85 fl oz, $4.45 value
  6. Ole Henriksen - Ultimate Lift Eye Gel, .25 fl oz, $9.50 value
  7. Mally - Lip Magnifier Lip Color in Punch, .1 oz, full size, $20.00 value
  8. Laura Geller - Waterproof Eye Spackle Advanced Primer Eye Shadow in Mauve Majesty, .074 fl oz, full size, $23.00 value
  9. New Beauty Magazine
After shipping and tax this one cost me $38.89. The retail value of this Test Tube is $80.79.  That's a good value, but no where near as good as the last one that had a value of over $143!  I don't include the cost of the magazine, which they value at $10, because it's mostly advertising.  I look forward to trying the Philosophy body lotion, the Algenist cleanser, Bliss body wash, Alterna volume spray, and Ole Henriksen eye gel.  I tried a previous Laura Geller eye spackle and I had an allergic reaction, so I will be selling that one.  Her regular spackle that is a makeup primer is my favorite primer.  I have so much lip gloss that I'm trying to use up what I have before I add more to my collection.  I've tried Ojon before and I really don't think it works at all for fine hair.  New Beauty Test Tube also offers a regular version of this subscription, but it's mostly drug store brands.  The QVC Test Tube is my favorite due to the expensive brands they include.

If you would like to purchase this subscription service, the item number is A251147.  The next shipments are in October, January and April.  What's your favorite cosmetic subscription service?

Dollish Polish - Say Hello to My Kitty Manicure

Photo taken in the sun

The above manicure features an Indie nail lacquer from Dollish Polish called Say Hello to My Kitty over Julep's Isla.  I used two coats of Isla and then applied one coat of Say Hello to My Kitty over it.  Then I dabbed some more Say Hello to My Kitty in the bare spots where there wasn't any glitter.  I also fished out some stars and applied them individually.  This glitter top coat is pretty easy to use, but does require fishing for glitter if you want specific pieces on your nails. This top coat was inspired by Hello Kitty, so there are matte glitter pieces in those neon pink, black and white colors.  I purchased this in a Llarow haul which you can see by clicking here.  I have a Summer Giveaway going on right now, so don't forget to enter before you leave!

Go Bites Monthly Subscription Box

In the search for new monthly subscription boxes, Go Bites is one I thought was worth a try since I'm always looking for healthy organic snacks.  I purchased my first box for 30% off which is $19.50 and it normally costs $27.86. Without the discount, each snack only costs $1.99.  On the website you start by filling out the questionnaire and they select boxes based on your answers.  If you don't like their selections you are free to change it.  You also chose you shipment frequency from every week, every two weeks, or once a month.  I chose every month for now and these are the fourteen snack boxes they sent:
  1. Essential Energy - raisins, sunflower seeds, pineapple, dates, peanuts, almonds, pumpkin seeds, coconut, apricot, cashews & bananas
  2. Chocolate Monkey - cashews, cavendish, bananas & dark chocolate chips
  3. Ceylon Spice Mix - curry cashews & sesame sticks
  4. Incan Teasure - dry roasted almonds, mango, dark chocolate cover cacao nibs & golden raisins
  5. Das Gutt - pumpkin seeds, dark chocolate chips, mango, raisins, sunflower seeds, cashews, almonds & apples
  6. Banana Split - cavendish bananas, golden cherries & coconut
  7. Topical Gluten Free Granola - granola with cashews, coconut, mango & bananas
  8. Blackberry & Co - monukka raisins, golden raisins, blackberries & dark chocolate covered cacao nibs
  9. Apricot Gluten Free Granola - granola with cranberries, coconut, cashews, apricots & sesame seeds
  10. The Silk Road - goji berries, mulberries, golden raisins, cacao nibs, cashews & pistachios
I decided to double up on the Essential Energy, Chocolate Monkey, Ceylon Spice Mix and Das Gutt because those were the ones that look best to me and I wanted one box for me and one for hubby.  We both loved Das Gutt.  I thought it was funny we both tried that one first, not knowing what the other chose.  Both of us thought Ceylon Spice was just ok, I'm not planning on reordering that one.  Essential energy, well I must confess, I ate both boxes.  Energy is something I really lack due to thyroid disease, so I eat or drink anything that helps.  That one will be reordered for sure, it's tasty.  Hubby really likes the Chocolate Monkey, since he loves bananas and chocolate!  I love how they are individually packaged per serving and they run around only 200 calories per container.  If you need healthy organic snacks, this is a subscription for you!  So there you have it, the latest new subscription I have tried.  What was the last new one you have tried and how'd you like it?  Please comment below.

Goodies Co Taster's Box - July 2013

This is a snack subscription box from Goodies Co for only $7 per month including shipping.  Included in July's box were the following snacks:
  1. Fruit Water - Orange Mango
  2. Cosmos Creations - Cinnamon Crunch
  3. Crunchmaster - Rice Crackers Multi-Grain Crisps with sea salt
  4. Sugar Foods - The Better Chip - Jalapeños with sea salt
  5. Gimbals - Cherry Lovers
The fruit water I added a little bit to my seltzer water for flavoring. It was ok, but not something I would purchase again.  The Cinnamon Crunch was a bit too sweet for me, but hubby liked it.  Neither of us liked the multi-grain crackers.  They are very bland and even our dogs wont try them.  Hubby enjoyed the Jalapeños Chips, but they were too spicy for me.  Hubby ate all of the Cherry Lovers candies and didn't even save one, not even one for me.  He obviously loved them.  He loves cherries and since they are made with real cherry juice he really enjoyed them. We really enjoy this subscription and look forward to the August box.  What's your favorite snack subscription service?

Nature Box

This is a monthly snack subscription box from Nature Box.  Normally this box costs $19.99 a month, but I used the coupon code "SNACKHEALTHY", so it only cost $9.95.  Each box includes five bags and each bag includes 4-5 servings.  Included in this box were the following:
  1. Far East Rice Crackers
  2. Agave Citrus Granola
  3. Bombay Curried Cashews
  4. Cranberry Almond Bites
  5. Chocolate Ginger Bliss
I wont be eating the Far East since it has soybeans in it.  Soy will adversely effect your hormones and that is not healthy at all.  I look forward to sprinkling the granola on top of my greek yogurt.  The cashews bag also includes walnuts, almonds, raisins, cranberries, apple, sunflower & pumpkin seeds.  The cranberry almond bites & chocolate ginger bliss were taken to work by hubby.  The expiration dates range from three to six months, so they need to be eaten quickly.  I cancelled this one, since I didn't like the selection, soy and the expiration dates created an urgency to eat them which I did not like.

What's your favorite food subscription service?  My favorites are Graze & Goodies, since I find we eat everything they send and enjoy the selection.  Love with Food comes in third because they have some odd snacks, but it sure is a fun one to try.  If you like trying unusual snacks, I'd suggest trying that one for sure.  If you like trying food from other countries and love cooking new recipes, check out World Dinner Club.  That one is really fun to try also, odds are they will send you food you have never tried before.

There are several other food subscription boxes featured on this blog. Check them out to help you decide which ones you would like to try:
