Pets Love Toys - September 2012 Shipment

Outside of box, Leo sniffing it

 Opening the box

Leo & Harvey investigating the contents of the box

This is a monthly dog toy & treat subscription service called Pets Love Toys.  Each month you have several selections to chose from.  Some boxes include 2 toys, some have 2 treats and some have one of each.  As you can see above, it also included a shampoo sample & 3 cookie samples and some stickers. It is only $14.95 per month including shipping for small pets & $19.95 for large pets.  For 15% off your first month use coupon code FIRST15.  Our four toy breed dogs (2 Maltese & 2 Shih Tzu) did not approve of the trypod toy.  It's too large and heavy for small dogs.  They love the cat shaped toy and have played fetch with it many times.  They all like squeaking it by hitting it with their paws or biting it.  In fact, Teddy just brought it to John to throw as I type this!

If you would like to subscribe to this service, click here and don't forget to use your coupon code, FIRST15.

Blissmo Box - September 2012

Lunchbox Snacks:

Contents of box:

This is a monthly sample subscription from Blissmo Box for $24.95 a month ($19 + $5.95 s/h).  This month I chose Lunchbox Snacks.  The other options were Skin 'n Hair Care or Pristine & Clean.  Included in this box were:
  1. Fruit Bliss - soft dried figs
  2. Lucy's - chocolate chip cookies
  3. Plentils - chips made from lentils
  4. Fiona's Natural Foods - granola
  5. Peter Rabbit Organics - strawberry & banana
  6. Nature Crops - guinoa granola bar
  7. SunRidge Farms - seasame sticks
  8. Artisan - jerky
I wasn't fond of this box.  Hubby enjoyed the jerky & the figs.  The cookies were bland.  I would say this has been my least favorite box from Blissmo.  My favorite was Doggie Delights.  I'm hoping the next one is better, I chose Fair Trade Favorites.  Stay tuned for a review on that box.  I am still waiting for a replacement of the missing granola that was suppose to be in my August box.  If I don't enjoy the next box and don't receive the missing granola, I'll be taking a break from this service.

BarkBox - September 2012

Teddy & Leo checking out the box

 Inside of the box

Contents of box, Teddy deciding what to take first

Teddy chewing on the Angus bar, his 1st choice

Teddy chewing some more

Leo's turn chewing

Leo taking a sweet potato treat

This is a monthly subscription service for dogs called BarkBox.  Each month they send your dog toys and treats to enjoy for $25 a month including shipping.  This month they really loved the Barkworthies Angus Power Bar the most. They went crazy for it and argued over who would chew on it.  I will need to locate a store that sells these and buy some more, so they don't have to share.  Leo normally only likes chicken, so I was shocked to see him go nuts over a beef treat!  Teddy chose it as his first choice out of everything in the box.  Leo had a chance to chew it second and then Harvey finished it off later. It was too large to allow them to eat it in one sitting.  2nd favorite item was the Sweet Potato dehydrated treats from Whole Life.  They also loved the chicken version, but the sample was extremely small.  They weren't crazy about the toy, they ignored it.  My dogs don't tend to like toys that don't squeak.  My dogs love getting toys and treats in the mail, so it's really fun for them and I enjoy making them happy.

GlossyBox - September 2012

Opening the box:

Products inside:

I am totally unhappy with this month's box from GlossyBox.  I don't recognize any of these brands and the color of the BB Cream isn't fair enough for my skin tone, and I don't have oily skin to use the mattifying gel on. Included in this month's box:
  1. OC8 - Profession Mattifying Gel
  2. Missha - M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42
  3. GK Hair - Moisturizing Shampoo
  4. GK Hair - Moisturizing Conditioner
  5. Kryolan - Moisture Rich Lipstick in Glossy Pink
It seems every other box is a win for me from this monthly subscription service.  I am very tempted right now to cancel, but I know next month will be a winner if I do!  I'll try one more month and if it's another disappointment, I will cancel.  I must say this subscription service seems to have better brands in the UK version that I have seen reviewed online.  Perhaps, if those of use who are subscribers email or leave a message on their Facebook page we can let them know the brands need to improve.  Oh, wow, I just visited their Facebook page and now you can't leave a comment unless you are commenting on one of their posts.  They must be having a lot of complaints!  Maybe I'll cancel now instead.  Should I or shouldn't I?  If you like the brands you see, and would like to subscribe, visit their website by clicking here.  This subscription is $21 a month including shipping.

OPI's Just Spotted the Lizard - Dupe for Chanel's Peridot

OPI's Just Spotted the Lizard Nail Polish:

This OPI polish named Just Spotted the Lizard is a duplicate for the expensive Chanel nail polish in the color Peridot.  It's difficult to photograph since in some light the polish has more of a gold color and in other light it comes off more green.  It's color is much nicer in person, as you move your nail, the polish color changes from gold to green metallic.  This polish is really pretty and goes to the top of my favorite nail polish list!  My bottle of polish is a mini from the Spiderman collection available as a set for $12.50 retail or less on amazon.com.  It is also available in a full sized bottle for $8 or less on amazon.com.  Here's the polish is very closely resembles:

The Chanel polish version sells for $26!  That's just too high a price for me to justify and I hear it chips easily.  As usual the OPI version doesn't chip when you use two coats of Orly's rubberized base coat and one to two coats of Seche Vite each week.  I found I needed three coats of the polish to get good coverage since it goes on very thin.

Maggie's Pumpkin Pie Dog Cookie Recipe

Maggie's Pumpkin Pie Cookies

Ingredients:

2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 teaspoon all spice or 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon parsley
2 tablespoons molasses
2 1/2 cups oat flour

Yield - Approximately 17 large dog cookies

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350° F.

In large bowl whisk eggs.  Then add pumpkin, all spice, parsley, molasses and mix well.  Add flour 1/2 cup at a time, mixing well.  Mix until it looks like this:

Optional - place the cookie dough in the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes to make it easier to roll out the cookie dough.  Place some parchment paper on the counter and place the dough on top.  Roll out dough with a rolling pin until about 1/4" inch thick.  Use a cookie cutter to cut out your cookies.  It should look like this:

Pick up remaining dough and knead into a ball and roll out again.  Repeating this process until there is no dough left.  Place cookies on a cookie sheet.  Optional - use a fork to make holes on the top of the cookies, if you used a dog bone shaped cookie cutter.  Your cookies should look like this:

Place cookies in the oven for 20 minutes.  Turn over cookies and place back in the oven for an additional 20 minutes.  Take cookies out of the oven and cool.  They should look like this:

Once the cookies are cool, give out samples to your dogs.  Place remaining cookies in an airtight container for later.

These treats were taste tested and approved on September 25th by Leo, Teddy, Harvey & Issy.  Here's Leo enjoying his first taste:

 Happy Dog:

Use organic ingredients whenever possible for the healthiest dog cookies.  Oat flour is more expensive, but is better than regular flour because many dogs are sensitive to regular flour and may have stomach upset as a result.  You can find it at Whole Foods, Vitacost and Amazon.com.

There are many other dog cookie recipes on this blog and more to come.  Below are the links in order of my dogs' preference:

Big Brother 14 Finale Party

Big Brother Finale Party

Ian & Ashley
You can find Ashley on twitter, here.
Ian says he's spending his $500K on student loans and sunglasses.  Will return to school in January.

Howie & Ashley
Howie says he's still trying to be a meteorologist!  Geez!
He visited with Ashley because she said she had a crush on him.  Serious flirting, who does Ashley not flirt with?!?

Frank:

Frank on Twitter
Buy his fan shirt here.
He's grateful for the fans.

Daniele Donato and ?, sorry I don't remember his name.  Are they a couple now?  I do remember her father being annoyed by him and I couldn't understand why she's attracted to him.

JoJo, Ashley, Frank, Wil
Frank looked very uncomfortable around drunk JoJo and over the top pushy Ashley while he drank water.  Ashley tries to get in on every interview.  I think Frank was annoyed that his interview was interrupted yet again by Ashley.

Rachel & Brandon, now married!  First couple from Big Bro married!
See their wedding photos in OK Magazine in October
and on WE TV see their September Wedding in December 15th

Porsche:
Unprofessional, gum in mouth.  Confirmed, friends with Janelle prior to getting on Big Brother, coached by her.

Janelle:
Unprofessional, gum in mouth and brought drunk friend named Bo.  It was so bad that they had to ask her for another interview without him.

Jen Johnson:
On Twitter

Adam:
Still obsessed with bacon!

It's very strange that Dan, Danielle, Shane, Britney, and Jenn haven't shown up.  Joe said he went home to his family.  Boogie said he wouldn't show up, he said something about being lied to about the coach twist by the producers.  They still have invitations to Las Vegas and Seattle, so why haven't they showed up to the first part of the PR tour?!?  Guess they are not planning on returning to CBS for another job.

There are are many Survivor players showing up, I don't recognize them after watching the first season that was enough for me.  Confused as to why they would show up to a Big Brother Finale Party.

Jeff & Jordan finally show up:
Jeff has till June to propose to Jordan.  It sounds like Jeff wants to live in CA and Jordan is totally against that for the long term.

Shane & Danielle finally show up after having dinner with Jeff & Jordan:
Shane says he needs to go back to his 3 jobs and continue to pay his parents' mortgage.  Upset that Dan played the game he did because his family is going into bankruptcy and he needs the money.  While he will not speak to Dan again, he may forgive him due to his also religious background.  Wants a relationship with Dani, but the distance is an issue.  Dani says she will visit Vermont soon.  It seems they are supporting each other at the very least emotionally due to Dan using them.  They claim their relationship is real and Jeff & Jordan gave them good advice.

Awards:

Britney won DR Queen - no show
Comp King or Queen - Frank
Biggest Schemer - Dan
Best Whisper - Danielle
Make a Career out of BB - Frank (yes, he will return if asked)
Best Backstabber - Dan
All Star Worthy - Ian (yes, he will return if asked)
Best Kiss Ass - Joe
Storyteller - Britney
Floater - Jenn
Cause FOF (feeds on fish) - Britney

Chelsea (Big Brother Loser) presented the awards and was so disorganized and dropped the ball many times.  I'm not impressed with who they hired to do the interviews or anything for real.com.

Big Brother 14 Finale

And the Winner Is:

Ian!

$500,000

Only person that voted for Dan was stupid Dani!  Frank won America's Choice!!!!

Backyard Interviews:

Britney really happy Ian won.

Frank says his relationship with Ashley wont continue due to distance.  Willie told them that he was going to get himself expelled.

Shane is depressed and I was wondering why.  He revealed that he went to a hotel for six days instead of jury. He says he's going home to no job and lots of bills.  Shane says his relationship with Dani wont continue due to distance and no funds to fly to see each other, since neither of them won.

Ashley said she is proud of Ian and had him on her dream board to win.  Also, on her dream board Frankie moves to California and her spray tan business does wells.  Her website:  Bronzique.com.  "Frank won 25K, get your butt to Cali".  Also, "did you see the first week Ian was in the house, awkward, so we tried to build his confidence with the date".

Joe said:  it was fun in the house, I was the oldest one,  didn't think I would get this far, so I wasn't upset when evicted.  I love Janelle and she was a great coach.  Mad Love Big Brother Cookbook and on YouTube (link to his YouTube on previous BB post) is his future.  He thought Willie was self-evicting with the head butt.

Janelle most happy with Dani leaving (Dani lied and said Janelle said Dani was fat, never happened). Possible Amazing Race in the future.  She feels bad for Dan winning second place, such a good player, would love to play like him.  Willie is so stupid, can't converse with him, nothing in common, never talk to him again.  Cheered for Frank & Dan.

Wil is so happy Ian won.  Dan played dirty, Ian was clean and classy!  He thought Dan would win.  Next Thursday his next video on YouTube (link in a previous blog post).  Jenn is a friend for life.  He's single, "put a ring on it", pointed to his finger.  Extremely funny, I wish he had been more funny in the house.

Boggie happy Ian won since he was such a superfan.  Went back to boring restaurant life.  Unhappy with the coach twist.

Jodi in sequester for a week, with hope of maybe going back.

Jenn wanted Brit or Dan to win.  Going back to NY to continue to pursue her music career.

Kara sequestered for two weeks.  She would have picked Ian to win.  Really sad she didn't get back in the house since Willie self evicted.

JoJo impressed by Ian & Dan.  Dani is a liar, Shane will be shocked when he sees it all on the internet.

Danielle thinks Ian deserved to win, but stayed loyal to Dan so she voted for him.  A nurse would be able to memorize better than a kindergarden teacher, that's why she lied about her occupation.  Loves Shane inside and out.  Says:  whoever had been my coach I would have been loyal to them.  During interview she was informed that Dan told Shane on the way out that she played him, shock (photo below).  Did Dan really say that, she asked.  She said that she & Shane definitely have a future together.  Delusional!  I hope a shrink is waiting to help her, she's going to lose it shortly!

Dan - claims he had to play a different game this time.  Not!  He played the same game last time, hiding his devil behavior behind the bible.  So happy he lost!  Loser, loser, loser!   The smile I hate:

Ian - the hammock is freaking awesome.  Frank - funny, Dan - slimey, Britney - sweet.  Thought  I would lose to Dani and Dan, but Dan had my word.  Winner!

More interviews tomorrow at 11 pm ET, so come back for more photos and updates....

Way to go Ian & Frank!

Have a PEACEful Night!
