Big Brother Nomination Ceremony

On the block:

Frank & Jenn

The proof:  look at Frank & Jenn's photos on the right, no key next to their photos

I'm extremely disappointed Frank is on the block yet again.  Ian's letter from home stated that he needs to make tough decisions.  Putting Frank & Jenn on the block was not difficult, that's what the majority of the house wants. Having the balls to put up Dani & Dan would have been a tough decision.  Really a shame he didn't take his family's advice!  Does he really think taking Dan & Dani to the end will win him the game, crazy!  Oh wait, I forgot for a second he is crazy!  We're dealing with someone who rocks back and forth 90% of the day either on a chair or the hammock.  I'm grateful I'm not stuck in the house with him.  He would make me nauseous at the dinner table and I'd have to ask him to knock it off!

Also earlier today Ian opened another Pandora's box.  Apparently there was a Christmas tree and lots of presents under it.  Jessie, from a previous season, came out and took all their candy, junk food and alcohol and replaced it with healthy organic snacks.  Wonder what secret prize Ian received that he's not telling anyone about!  They were also given an upgraded hammock.  Since Ian spends most of the day swinging on it, those of us listening to the feeds are grateful because it appears that this one doesn't creak with each swing!  You could hear the old one all the way in the kitchen, so annoying.  Joe received a penalty last night for being the first one down during the HOH competition which is to play with a hula hoop every time the trumpet sounds, which is very often!  He really doesn't know how to swing a hula hoop around, so it's a pretty sad attempt when he tries.  After the nomination ceremony, they played with the toys received during pandora's box.  Ian is playing with preschool legos, really Big Brother?  This is the best you got?  So boring!  Tuning out for the night cause this is just plain crazy to sit around and watch a crazy adult play with a preschool toy!

The New HOH of Big Brother 14 is:

Who will he put on the block???

Comment below with your guess!

In order of falling off:  Joe, Jenn, Dani (threw up), Dan, Shane

Shane tried to make a deal with Ian very early on in the game when just the two of them were remaining and he refused.  Shane tried again and said he would drop if he & Danielle were safe, Ian agreed.  Does Danielle really have Shane's back?  Why pick her to save?

Brit went to the jury house to join Ashley.

BarkBox - August 2012

BarkBox for August

Inside of box:

Contents of box:

This is a monthly subscription service called BarkBox.  Included in this months box:
  1. Nature's Miracle - Puppy breath scented freshening spray for dogs coat to freshen up and condition.
  2. Hyper Pet - Pig slingshot toy for fetching.
  3. Acadia Antlers - hard chew that is long lasting, naturally shed from the moose of Maine.
  4. Milk Bone - trail mix
  5. Bocce's Bakery - The Elvis:  Peanut butter, banana and bacon, wheat free treats.
Favorite items in this package are Bocce's Bakery cookies and the Acadia Antlers.  Teddy enjoyed chewing on the piece of an antler, but our other three toy breed dogs weren't interested.  Teddy has the best teeth and the most interested in chewing out of our four dogs.  All four of our wuffies enjoyed The Elvis cookies, but not as much as my homemade cookies.  They tend to turn their nose at any cookie that isn't home made now and will let it sit till they know they aren't going to get anything better.  I wont give my dogs anything from Milk Bone, it's a brand I do not trust and my dogs just snub it and refuse to eat it anyway.  The pig toy Teddy played fetch with a bit, but he prefers furry toys rather than this type of fabric.  I already use an organic spray from Italy from the brand called Royal Treatment on my dogs to freshen up between baths.  I'm not crazy about the ingredients in Nature's Miracle.  I'm extremely picky about what products I use and feed my dogs.  So there you have it, August's BarkBox.  My dogs sure do love getting goodies in the mail!  Read about the previous boxes they received here:

If you would like one for your doggie, you can get $5 off by using code "WEWEB057" here.

If you know of other dog related subscription services, please leave me a comment below with that info.  Thanks for reading, give your dog a hug and kiss for me!  Have a PEACEful Day!

Big Brother 14 - POV Ceremony - POV used by Jenn!

12 PM POV Used by:

On the block:

Brit & Danielle (Dan off block)

Last night when Dan came out of solitary confinement he pretended to be sick from the strobe lights.  He refused medical help from Danielle.  Minutes later he was able to get into the Diary Room.  When he came back out he called for a house meeting in the living room.   If you have the feeds, look at 7:50 pm house time.  The meeting was for the "funeral of Dan the player".  He had several of them in tears and it lasted for about 10 minutes.  At the very end he told Danielle "you're dead to me" and left.  Jenn said it was a set up to make it seem Danielle was untrustworthy.  Danielle is crying non stop in Shane's arms.  Dan goes to HOH with Frank and they chat. First he tells him that there is an alliance of five:  himself, Danielle, Brit, Shane, Ian.  If Brit won veto the plan was for her to take Danielle down, Ian was going to take Dan down.  He also told him that it was Ian who told them that Boogie wanted Shane & Brit out.  Frank believes him, stated that he was thinking something was up with Ian.  Dan was mad at Danielle because she was suppose to the throw the veto to him because prior to the POV game.  They both decided that it would be best for Dan to come off the block rather than Danielle because she could win votes against anyone else sitting next to her on the block.  He said when she got one of the points in the game he knew Brit got in her ear.  He says he's not going to tell her why he's mad.  He's mad he trusted her and let her get so close to Brit.  Says he wants to go final 2 with Frank because he can't trust Danielle now. He said he felt alone when Danielle didn't throw the veto and Brit was whispering to Frank.  He said he didn't rat out Ian before because he didn't think they would believe him.  Dan said when Ian said to Boogie "get to stepping" on his way out the door he knew Ian was ruthless and that he couldn't trust him.  "Get to stepping" was the the line Boogie used on Howie when Howie was walking out the door.  Dan told Shane not to trust Brit after he saw her whisper in Frank's ear after veto.  Frank said he warned Shane about Brit.  Shane told Dan that he would take Danielle to the end over Brit.  Dan doesn't 100% trust that.  Dan says he will pitch ways to save Frank but not let them know they are working together.  They make a final four deal - Jenn, Danielle, Frank, Dan. Frank says, "Don't bull*hit me Dan".

Today around noon they had the POV ceremony and they set the plan into action.  Jenn took Dan off the block and Frank put Brit on the block.  Ian screams at Frank in the HOH room.  Frank tells him to get out of his room. Brit goes to the HOH and talks to Frank & Jenn.  She's really nice about it all and says she misses her husband and cries.  She also says that she thought she was going out this week and told DR that.  Brit goes downstairs and Danielle tries to comfort her.  Brit says it's ok because she had a shot at it before.  Frank goes downstairs and walks past Ian, Ian starts yelling at him.  Frank says, yeah keep it up, let those horns come out Ian, let everyone see!  Shane comforts Brit and tells her it's not over.  Frank & Dan are gambling on Shane's vote to keep Danielle, but I don't think that's a good bet!  Later Danielle & Brit hug and comfort each other.  Danielle thinks they will try to get her out next.

Leo's Lip Licking Littles - Version Two

Leo's Lip Licking Littles Dog Cookie Recipe:

2 1/2 Cups of oat flour
2       Chicken breasts (hormone free)
1       Apple sauce cup (no sugar added, 4 oz)
1       Bag of frozen green beans (12 oz)
1       Tablespoon Molasses
1/4    Cup chicken broth (low salt) or use broth made by chicken after cooked

Preheat oven to 350° F.  Place frozen chicken breasts in covered dish and cook for 80 minutes:

Cut the chicken breasts to make sure the center is fully cooked (not pink) or use a meat thermometer to check temperature.  Inside temperature should be around 170° F when done.  Set chicken aside to cool for  about 5-10 minutes.  While waiting, microwave frozen green beans as per bag's instructions, usually 5-7 minutes.  Set aside to cool.  Place chicken breasts and the chicken broth in food processor until it looks like this:

Add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor and blend till it looks like this:

Using an ice cream scoop, scoop out into ball shaped cookies on a cookie baking sheet like this:

If you add a little flour to your hand you can shape them into a mini burger shape if you prefer that look. Note below in the photo you can see the burger shaped ones on the right and the others on the left.

Reduce oven temperature to 325° F.  Cook cookies for 32 minutes, then flip and continue cooking for 13 additional minutes.  Turn off oven and leave them in the oven with the door closed for 2 hours.  Take cookies out of oven and let them cool.  The finished product:

Give out samples to your dogs!  Place the remainder of the cookies in an airtight container and place in refrigerator.  If the cookies are too large, you can cut them in half after they are cooked.

Note - use organic ingredients for an even healthier treat!  This is version 2 of this recipe, because the 1st version uses a dehydrator and one of my readers mentioned she didn't want to purchase one and would like an oven alternative recipe.  If you would like to try out the original version, you can read it here.  These version 2 cookies were taste tested by Leo, Teddy (Maltese), Issy & Harvey (Shih-Tzu) with approval.  Leo grabbed his right away, he smelled the chicken, his favorite food!  These are also good to crumble on top of their dry food at dinnertime.  If your dog is being fussy and wont eat his dry food, this is a great way to entice them to eat.  While we are on the subject of dry dog food,  I highly recommend Solid Gold's Hundenflocken.  You can find it at Petco and many pet food stores.  Visit their website to find a store near you.

Big Brother 14 POV Competition

Competition lasted from 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm PT.  Feeds are back with:

Frank wearing a carrot outfit & had to endure the chum bath.  Have to say the carrot hat is funny!  Danielle & Brit will be cuffed to each other for 24 hours at the ankle.  Dan will be in solitary confinement for 24 hours in the have not room with music and strobe lights. Last competition made him the only have not yet they gave him champagne & cake in confinement. Dan's punishment doesn't look bad, he's having fun.  Oh, the fun is quickly over, he's not happy now.  Jenn apologized to Danielle, I'm guessing because she won POV when Danielle needed it more. Danielle was painted so she had to take a shower to remove the paint.  Sounds like the house guests shot paint at her.  Jenn's on slop for the rest of the game.  Joe made fancy slop for her, others who tried it said it tastes really good.  Ian is rocking in his chair like a mental patient, as usual.

POV winner is, make sure you are sitting down before reading this:

OMG, I can't believe she won anything!  Eating slop for the summer wins you a POV?  That's not enough punishment!  I think she may have her head shaved or Shane will before Thursday, heard something about that. Jenn is telling Frank she will not be using her POV.  She doesn't want Danielle taken off only to have Brit put up in exchange.  Can we believe her?  Frank says he can't compete in the next two HOH competitions.  Why would you do that Frank?  You didn't need that POV,  you weren't on the block!  Bad move!   I heard they had to take punishment without knowing what it would be.  So perhaps that's why he made such a big mistake.  They are saying Dan will be going home.  Can we believe them?  Ian walked in and started saying "I have bad news..." as if he was going to say he was going to take someone off the block with his POV that he won in the last competition which was the question mark claw arcade game.  So he indicated he won't use the POV, can we believe him?  Frank mentioned that he won money.

Today Joe has been stirring up the pot telling Frank that Dan said "I'll rat your ass out" to Ian during the question mark claw arcade game that they played today.  Dan was mad because Ian took the POV ball when Dan was reaching for it too.  Frank confronted Ian about it and his explanation wasn't believable.  Hopefully Frank is not forgetting what Boogie told him on the way out "don't trust Ian".  Why hasn't Dan told Frank, Jenn, & Joe that Ian is the spy and playing both sides?  He's on the block and lost POV, it's the perfect time to do so!  Last chance to save himself from eviction!

According to Danielle, Dan is mad at her and not speaking since the POV competition.  Danielle & Brit speak to Dan through the have not door and he apologizes for not winning and "letting them down". Danielle asks him if he's mad at her, long pause and some answer that Danielle & Brit couldn't make out, nor could I.

Last update till morning - Dan has been sleeping since 9 pm PT even with the loud music and strobe lights flashing on his face.  I'm actually starting to feel sorry for him.  I'm a bit concerned since he is always laying down or sleeping throughout BB14.  Wonder if he has a medical condition or on some drug with a side effect of drowsiness.  Just seems strange to me for his age.  And telling Danielle "I think I will die young in my early 30's" while she was crying making her cry more, strange!  Any thoughts on that?  Comment below...

French Nfu Oh Holographic Manicure

Nfu Oh Holographic Nail Lacquer #065

 Front of nail polish bottle:

Back of nail polish bottle:

This is a holographic nail polish from France.  The holographic effect is most noticeable in the sunlight and while moving the nails.  It refects all the colors of the rainbow.  It's extremely pretty.  This polish is a bit thick and takes patience to apply.  I recommend using 1 thin layer, plus two thick layers.  This polish can only be stroked on once in 3 lines, you can not go back and brush the line of polish you just applied like other polishes.  If you do go back with your brush, it will remove all the polish including previous coats.  It needs to be applied in three lines, center, right and left with as little pressure as possible.  Don't worry about the 3 lines of polish blending without going back.  Fortunately the three lines will blend together on their own without going back and blending them with your brush.

If you would like more information about this unique polish from France, read my previous post here.

Sweet Romeo's Crunchy Carrot Cookies - Dog Cookie Recipe

Sweet Romeo's Crunchy Carrot Cookies

2 1/2 Cups Oat Flour
1/2  Cup Quaker Oats
1  Egg
3 Tablespoons Chicken Broth
1 Tablespoon Molasses
1 Cup Carrots (cooked then shredded)
1 Cup of Sweet Potatoes (baked)
1/4 Cup Parsley
1 Applesauce cup (4 oz, unsweetened)

Preheat oven at 350° F.

Whisk egg in large bowl until it looks like this:

Add the rest of the ingredients to the bowl:

Stir with a fork until it's throughly mixed and looks like this:

Place some parchment paper down on counter.  Sprinkle with oat flour.  Get your rolling pin out and dust with oat flour also.  Place cookie dough on parchment paper and roll out until it is about 1/4 of an inch in thickness.  Use your cookie cutter to make shapes in the dough like this:

Place cutout dough on a silpat lined cookie sheet like so:

Roll out the rest of the dough and continue using cookie cutters till all the dough is cutout and place on cookie sheet:

Place cookie sheets in oven for 35 minutes.  You way want to flip them over after 18 minutes, if you made them too thin. If they are getting too dark and look like they are cooking too fast, go ahead and flip them.  If you don't make them thin enough you'll need to cook them longer, up to 50 minutes total cooking time.  When the cookies are cooked enough they will be crispy.  At that point, turn off the oven and leave in oven for two hours with the oven door closed.  After two hours, remove cookies from oven and let cool on the cookie sheets.  When cookies are cool, give out samples to your wuffies:

Store the rest of the cookies in an airtight container.   Makes approximately 34 cookies.  Taste tested & approved by Leo, Teddy, Issy & Harvey on August 16th 2012.

Big Brother 14 - on the block

Dan & Danielle!

Doing my happy dance!  Way to go Frank!  Shane, Joe, Brit, & Ian are kissing his butt trying to manipulate Frank. Dan & Danielle have barely tried, which is shocking.  Why wouldn't they try to save themselves?!?  POV competition started at 2:30 pm PT.  Winner of POV is:

Big Brother 14 - HOH Winner is Frank!

Yep, Frank did it again, won POV and then HOH back to back!  What a player!  I knew he could do it.  Now I hope he's more picky about he choses to trust in this backstabbing game.  He can't trust anyone left in the house now.

Jenn, Ian, Shane & Dan are looking nervous!  No b-day cake for Brit!  LOL

Big Brother 14 - POV Winner

We interrupt your regularly scheduled blogging for a Big Brother Update!  The winner of the POV competition today on Big Brother is:

As a big fan of the American Big Brother Show on CBS, I'm going to be posting some live updates till the finale. The POV competition was played by Ian, Boogie, Frank, Shane, Jenn & Ashley.  It went on for over 7 hours, well the feeds were down that long!  Normally it's around 2-3 hours.  The feeds came back with the backyard clear of any competition stages, so they could have shown what was going on hours prior to this.  Several of the house guest took 2 hour naps before the feeds came back.

Last night was entertaining since Shane put Boogie & Frank on the block and Ian told the quack pack  (Shane, Britney, Danielle, Dan & Ian) that Boogie & Frank were going to put Britney & Shane on the block.  Which wasn't true, Frank wanted to get rid of Dan and Boogie wanted to get rid of Britney in a couple of weeks. Ian is the spy for the quack pack since Boogie thinks Ian is on his side. Wake up Boogie! So an hour before putting anyone on the block, Shane changed his mind from floaters to Boogie & Frank.  Since Boogie went for the $10K instead of HOH or safety, he was quite upset by the Silent Six alliance (Boogie, Frank, Dan, Danielle, Britney, Shane) being broken by Shane and blamed Dan for Shane's change of plans.  Dan was called out as a liar (yippee) and he just lay there and said nothing, literally lying down which he seems to do 95% of the time.  Dan wouldn't say if it was him nor name Ian as the one who really told everyone this info to the quack pack.  Shane blamed Britney for his decision and Britney was very angry he told this to Boogie & Frank.  Danielle was kept out of the meeting between Shane, Britney, Dan, Boogie & Frank and was very upset (LOL).  Boogie & Frank used this to their advantage and told her she couldn't trust Dan or Shane.  Watching Boogie sell his ideas to the silent six is extremely entertaining.  What a salesman!  I'm hoping he can pull it off this week too.  Wasn't originally a Boogie fan, but Janelle was boring this season and Boogie has been very entertaining.  Dan needs to wake from his coma, so boring, laying around all day.  The final two deals so far:  Dan & Boogie, Danielle & Britney, Joe & Shane.

Blissmo Box - August 2012

Blissful Bites

Peek inside the box:

Contents of box:

This box is from a monthly sample subscription service called Blissmo.  It's $24.95 a month ($19 + $5.95 s/h). Free shipping if you sign up for a year.  Value of this box $19.70.

I'm a bit confused as to whether this is the July box or August box.  Since I received it in August, I'll just call it the August box.  I had a choice between three themed boxes:  Naturally Hers, Naturally His and Blissful Bites.  I chose blissful bites as shown above.

Here's what was included:
  1. Beanitos - black bean chips in Chipoltle BBQ flavor.   Hubby loved these, I did not. $.89
  2. 479° Popcorn - Black Truffle + White Cheddar.  Love it, hubby does not. $4.99
  3. Panda Licorice - from Finland, blueberry flavor.  Hubby loved it, I can't stand licorice.  $.89
  4. Betty Lous - Superberry Acai cereal bar.  Hubby likes it, I do not.  It's like a fruit roll up. $2.19
  5. Braga Farms - organic pistachios.  Really good, liked by both of us, needs more salt. $8.99
  6. Crunchmaster - Multi-seed crackers.  Tasted something similar before, both of us do not like. $.50
  7. Giddy Up - Missing item not in box, instead received a blissmo pen in cardboard wrapper. $1.25
I'm disappointed I didn't receive the granola, because I love putting it on top of my yogurt and always looking for a new brand to try.  Have you received boxes from blissmo?  If  so, was anything ever missing?

Well there you have it.  For next month I chose Lunchbox snacks, so in a month I'll tell you about that.  Please join my blog, so you can learn about that box and the other monthly subscriptions I receive.  To read about my previous blissmo boxes received, click on these links:

Water Marbling Manicure

My 2nd Attempt at Water Marbling Nails:

Right hand:

Left hand:

This is my second attempt at water marbling.  This is the most difficult type of manicure I have tried so far.  This will drive a perfectionist insane!  I tried this about six months ago for the first time and didn't even keep the manicure or photograph it because the perfectionist in me couldn't stand that each nail didn't have a uniform amount of each color.  I used navy and burgundy and some nails had a ton of burgundy and others had way more navy.  I was unhappy with that.  This time I decided to practice again and find polishes that worked and just be happy with whatever the outcome was and to not concentrate on the fact that each nail looks quite different than the other.  Anyone know how many times you have to do this to figure out how to get the nails to look more similar?  My issue is trying to figure out where to sink my finger in the design.  My aim seems off sometimes as you can see in the photos above.  I started with my left pinky and it came out with a striped design that I love. The left ring finger landed up not getting enough color on it, that's my least favorite nail.  Then left middle has a pretty flower design, while the index finger has more of a traditional marbling look.  My left thumb has the side of a flower on it which I like.  Right hand, which I did second and with my left hand while I'm right handed, turned out with more consistent marbling.

Products used:

Manicure Keeper by Orly, Smudge Repair, Robin & Rose & Isla by Julep, Seche Vite

  1. Apply nail polish remover with cotton ball on all nails to remove oils.
  2. Apply two coats of Orly's Manicure Keeper, a rubberized base coat, to prevent chips for up to 20 days.
  3. Apply two coats of Julep Isla (white pearl color).
  4. Apply scotch tape to skin surrounding the nail.  One piece on left side, one on right and one at the top.
  5. In Deer Park water at room temp in styrofoam cup about an inch from the rim, drop 8 drops of polish starting with Juelp Robin (blue color), then Julep Rose(red color), then Isla (white pearl color), repeat twice except skip last drop of Isla.
  6. Using a toothpick, draw from outside of cup towards the center to the opposite side about 5-6 times.
  7. Sink nail at an angle into the area that has the busiest pattern with the most lines, sideways to the lines drawn.
  8. Blow on water for about 5 seconds and use a Q-tip to remove the remaining polish on water's surface.
  9. Pull nail out carefully and blow on polish and shake to remove any water.  Use a Q-tip for stubborn water drops.  Remove scotch tape.
  10. Repeat steps 1-9 for remaining 9 fingers.
  11. Apply top coat of Seche Vite.
  12. Use Sephora's corrective pen to remove any polish from skin.
  13. Add another coat of Seche Vite 1-2 times per week to prevent chips.

More photos:

So there you have it, it's a lot of work!  I dare you to give it a try!  You may find it easier than I did.  To view one of the tutorials I used, click here.  Another favorite nail tutorial site, My Simple Little Pleasures is located here.  I recommend watching several of her water marbling tutorials starting from oldest to newest.  The designs she comes up with are simply amazing!

Issy's Nutty Nana Dog Cookie Recipe

Issy's Nutty Nana Cookies:

1 1/2 Cups oat flour
2/3    Cup Quaker oats
2       Bananas (very ripe), peeled
4       Tablespoons peanut butter (no sugar added)
1/2    Cup dried parsley
1       Tablespoon dried mint leaves (optional)
1       Egg (cage free)

Preheat oven to 350° F.  Add all ingredient to a large mixing bowl:

Stir with a fork until it looks like this:

Using a tablespoon drop 24 heaping spoonfuls onto a cookie baking sheet, each sheet should look like this:

Bake for 27 minutes and then turn them over and cook for an additional 10 minutes.  The finished cookies should look this:

Set cookies aside to cool.  Give out samples to your dogs.  Place leftovers in an airtight container.  These were taste tested and given lip smacking approval by Leo, Issy, Teddy & Harvey on July 31st 2012.

Options - you may substitute half of the oat flour with quaker oats.  You may also make the cookies smaller, but you may need to cook them a bit less, so keep an eye on them towards the end of cooking time.  You may omit the mint.  These would make a wonderful gift for your furry friends.  Place in a decorated Ziploc or Hefty container or other airtight container for wonderful gift giving!  They make very festive containers during the holidays.
