Peanut Butter & Banana Dog Cookie Recipe

Peanut Butter & Banana Cookies

Ingredients:

1    Banana, Peeled
1    Cup Oat Flour
2/3 Cup Rolled Oats
1/2 Cup Dried Parsley
3     Tablespoons Peanut Butter
1     Egg, Beaten

Directions:

Preheat over to 300 degrees F.  Put banana in large bowl and use fork to mash thoroughly.  Add oat flour, oats, parsley, peanut butter and egg and still well to combine.  Set aside for 5 minutes.

Roll mixture into 24 balls, using about 1 tablespoon of dough for each cookie.  Transfer to a large parchment paper lined baking sheet.  Bake until firm and deep golden brown on the bottom, 40-45 minutes.  Set aside to cool completely.

Notes - You can use 1/2 the parsley, though this makes their breath smell so good.  No need to set dough aside for 5 minutes.  I found it made 16 cookies not 24.  Mine took the full 45 minutes of cooking time.  Oat flour is expensive and hard to find, you can make yourself with rolled oats, place in food processor till it looks like flour, sift.  Rolled oats are different than oatmeal.  Found on Amazon.com at a better price. Purchase the parsley in bulk at BJ's or Costco.  Used chunky organic peanut butter from Whole Foods.  This cookie is especially good for dogs with stomach issues who are sensitive to flour which is in most cookies available in stores. There are several dog cookie recipes on this blog and more to come.  Here are the links:

Taste tested by Leo, Teddy, Harvey & Issy on October 8th 2011.  They approve with lick smacking.  Not their favorite cookie though, since they aren't peanut butter fans like a lot of dogs.  If you give this recipe a try, I'd love to hear how your wuffies liked it!  If you have any dog cookie recipes, please share!  I find it so difficult to find healthy dog cookie recipes that don't use flour or sugar. Please leave a comment below.  Thanks for reading and Have a PEACEful Day!
